One year ago...I married my best friend and the LOVE of my Life!
Happy 1st Anniversary to US!
I can't even begin to describe what an awesome feeling I had waking up on July 31, 2011. :) Looking back at the year that had just passed and reminiscing about all the memories we added to our lives- brought tears of joy, laughter and an overall happiness feeling to my heart!
Ron and I have grown so much together as husband and wife and believe it or not, we learned even more about one another. Being together 7 years, prior to getting married, you would think you know just about everything there is to know about eachother, but I continue to learn more and more about Ron, and even myself. Living together on our own and having to rely on no one else but eachother made us stronger! I look back at some of the trials we both went through and I am so proud of how we handled every situation and how we pulled together to get through those times!
Now if you know Ron, you know that he is a very entertaining guy! Even when I'm mad, I can't help but still laugh at his corny jokes! And mind you, I have heard them only about a billion times...Lol! Ron knows how to use his humor to get him out of trouble...hahaha! I say this all the time, but his humor is one of the reasons why I fell inlove with him! :) He always puts a smile on my face and can turn a bad day into a good day just by being himself.
Let me give you a small run down of this past year's new experiences:
- We moved into our very own place downtown at Towne Gate Appts
- Found out just how expensive grocery shopping can be - especially when Ron wants 12 bags of chips
- Started going to a new ward which mostly consisted of students - missed Bishop Hales
- Ron quickly found out why my sisters hated sharing a bed with me - I like to move and hit in my sleep
- Ron played his 1st season of Division I football for the UofU - Go Utes!
- I tried some cooking - "tried" being the keyword...Ron was a good sport
- We got a free trip to Vegas for Ron's bowl game against Boise State - met some new friends
- Put together and decorated our first christmas tree together - I won't say what Sherry told us to do...Ha!
- I discovered that Ron is very particular about how he organizes and arranges his things
- Discovered our love for TOMs - soo comfy and not pricy
- Started working out together again - I need to get back on track with that
- Visited the Temple as Husband & Wife - what a blessing
- We both experienced some health issues this year - so thankful for the priesthood Ron holds
- Gatorade became our new best friend - Drinks and Chips is what it takes to make my Man happy
- Had to get used to my new name and calling Ron my husband - it was weird not to say boyfriend anymore after 7 years and changing from "Davidson" to "Tongaonevai" was going from one extreme to another...But i wouldn't have it any other way!
These are just a few of the things that I can think of off the top of my head, but we'll stop there so I don't make this a 10 page blog. This past year was one of the best year's of my life! It has taught me so much about myself and how strong Ron and I really are. We are definitely opposites, but it is what they say, opposites do attract! What I lack he picks up and what he lacks I pick up. We've learned to compromise and work together through everything. Don't get me wrong, we have our moments (who doesn't), but sometimes it's best to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Let me go ahead and give you all the details of what our Anniversary consisted of...I'll keep this PG! Lol! (Get your minds out of the gutter)
I woke up around 10am to meet with our wedding cake lady. She doesn't believe in eating frozen-one year old cake, so her package included a freshly-made top layer (identical to our wedding day cake) delivered on our 1st Anniversary.
After that, we decided to head out for some brunch at IHop and took my little sister Jazmyn with us. We ate and talked about everything as usual. I got a call from one of my best friends, Tara. She told me that she just got engaged to her Jr. High School Sweet-heart! And of course, being that it was our anniversary and hearing some great news about a good friend who is also going to tie the knot, just got me all teary-eyed! Hahahaha! Ron and Jazmyn are making fun of me, of course.
We decided to go and kill some time at F.Y.E. and pick up some movies. Ron is a big movie buff so we decided to go and take advantage of their sale. We got 6 movies for $30! :) Wahoo!
After that, Ron offered to make a stop at Starbucks to get me my caramel frappuccino - more sweet than coffee, no whipcream and tons of caramel sauce! (He hates those things and hates when I get em, but decided to be nice that day).
We went home to watch one of our new movies - American History X, probably not the best movie to watch on your anniversary, or maybe any day. Lol.
Started getting ready for our dinner...can I be fat and say I was really excited!? Why? Because Ron had me thinking that he wasn't doing anything/making plans for our Anniversary. I was bummed of course. I came home after work on Friday and Ron surprised me with a reservation he made at a premier steakhouse called, Flemings. Now, I'm not a big steak eater, but if/when I do eat steak, it's got to be the best! We've never been to Flemings but we're always up for trying new things. After getting ready, Jaz snapped a couple pics of us...
We headed out to our destination!
Now mind you, this place is downtown and if you know how parking downtown is, than you know it sucks butt...big time! We didn't want vallet, we're cheap about that kind of stuff- Lol, so after circling a couple times...BAM! We got lucky and got front row parking! That was our adrenaline rush for the day!
We head in and were greeted by the friendly host. Ron says we have reservations and they seat us in a nice, big, comfy booth. Our waiter, who by the way was AWESOME, comes and gives us the spiel about the food, gives us these 10 pound menus to look at and takes our order.
Now, I told you already that this was a premier steakhouse...tell me why Ron orders a double chicken breast for his main course and I order their barbecued-glazed salmon for mines??? After giving our orders, we both looked at each other and just laughed. :) The food was the bomb though! My salad was already half way eaten by the time I remembered to take a pic...Lol! Fresh mozzarella and sweet grape tomatoes is the best! :)
How excited is he!? :)
And because my husband is just so darn likeable- We got an amazing dessert to share...on the house! :) How do you like us now!? Ha!
On our way out were given a card and thanked for choosing Flemings to celebrate our special day.
Here is what they hand us...really? something doesn't look right...lol

We decided to catch a late show of "Horrible Bosses" but stopped off at the house to have our cake first. So we got home and went to the kitchen...Ron pulls out the cake and starts cutting into it. I had my phone in one hand ready to take a pic but Ron tells me to put my phone down and says, "Lets imitate our wedding day by feeding each other!" So i decide to go along with that idea cuz it was cute of him to suggest that. Not thinking it all the way through...as soon as we have our cakes in hand and are making our way towards each other's mouths...Ron's hand comes fast at my face and shoves the cake all over! His response was, "Babe I didn't get to do that at our wedding so now was my chance!" Never again am I going to take Ron serious when he is trying to be sweet! Lol. Needless to say, our cake was yummy and I am so thankful it was fresh! :)
Very professional, I must say! :)
We still had some time to kill before our movie...so we decided to invite my sister, Jenise and her kids over, to spend some time with them before they headed back to Arizona the next day. After hanging out with them for a while we decided to take a rein check on the movie and just hang out with the kids. They were down here in Utah for the past 2 weeks and it was going to be a long time before we got to see them again, so we decided to take advantage of the time we still had with them. :)
Our day was simple and relaxing. I loved it! I wouldn't have done anything different, except maybe beat Ron to the punch and shoved the cake in his face! :) I just want to thank my Husband for all that he does for me! He is a hard working, dedicated and intelligent Man, who always puts me first in everything he does! I want him to know that I love him always and will forever be there through anything! He continues to make me a better person each day by his example! I am so thankful I have him as my eternal companion and that I am sealed to a worthy man who honors his priesthood!
Ron, you are and will always be, "
My Everything" I luv you!
